Unlike a regular invoice, an official invoice in Iran must be registered and issued through the Taxpayer System (Samaneye Moudian). Requirements for an official invoice include: complete seller and buyer information (name, economic code, registration number, postal code), invoice date and number, detailed description of goods/services, unit price and total amount, VAT rate and amount, duty rate and amount, and the final payable amount. Since December 2022, issuing official invoices has become mandatory for all VAT-liable persons, and non-compliance incurs penalties.
